Arctic String Quartet Violins Martin Frewer & Ágústa María Jónsdóttir Viola Kathryn Harrison Cello Ólöf Sesselja Óskarsdóttir The Quartet started meeting for rehearsals in 1994. They met in the Iceland Symphony. Their first official concert with Popular Music was in the Nordic House in the summer of 1996. The Quartet has performed in England and on various occasions in Iceland: Corporate Events, Weddings and all sorts of Ceremonies. Martin Frewer In 1983 Martin became a member of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and has lived in Iceland since. He has participated in diverse projects both as soloist and in chamber music. He enjoys painting, walking and gardening. Using his mathematic skills he has worked as a software designer along with his music. Ágústa M. Jónsdóttir Ágústa M. Jónsdóttir has been in the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra since 1979 and played in varios groups over the years. Studied in Reykjavík and Vienna. She likes a lot to knit and go to coffee houses for cakes. Kathryn Harrison Kate has been in the Icelandic symphony since 1986 although the intention was to move to Iceland for only one year…. Obviously she fell in love with the country. She also enjoys coffee houses and cakes with her friends. Ólöf S. Óskarsdóttir Ólöf S Óskarsdóttir, born in Reykjavík, has played with these guys for over 20 years in this quartett and in the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She has also played the viola da gamba in renaissance and baroque groups. Ólöf loves the international language; that is, music!
